Local students presented at national biology and biochemistry conference
Seven FLC students attended and presented at the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology on April 21-25, 2018, in San Diego, California. The students, along with faculty members Steven Fenster and Shere Byrd, gave poster presentations of their research with faculty. The trip was supported by National Institute of Health - Maximizing Access to Research Careers (MARC program), Faculty Development, Student Travel Funds, and funds from the Leadership Center.

Ambassadors are chosen through a rigorous application and interview process and are selected based on their campus involvement, academic success, and enthusiasm for Fort Lewis College.

Twelve FLC students, along with four FLC faculty members and staff, attended the AISES (American Indian Science & Engineering Society) National Conference in Denver, Colorado, on September 20-24, 2017. The students' trip to the conference was funded by the Otten Family fund, National Institute of Health, Native American Summer Research Internship at University of Utah and some self-funded trips.

A team of five students from FLC attended the Diversity and Business Ethics Case Competition, hosted at the Leeds School of Business at CU Boulder on February 17-18, 2017. DBECC is an opportunity for students to gain real world experience while competing in a case challenge focused on diversity and ethics in a business setting. It aims to bring together diverse and well-rounded students from business schools across Colorado.

Local students attended National Collegiate Leadership Conference
Local students attended the National Collegiate Leadership Conference at the University of Tucson on February 12-14, 2016. It regularly attracts 600 students from around the nation. The conference features over 90 workshops, community service projects, teambuilding and networking events, and motivational speakers. Many of the workshops are given by emerging college leaders and cover an array of topics, including leadership for civic engagement, leadership for social justice, leadership and technology, and best practices. The Leadership Center has been taking students to this conference since 2009, in partnership with financial support from other departments such as the Native American Center, El Centro de Muchos Colores, and Diversity Programming.
